Friday The 13th

Today in my world, marks a pretty special day. On your birthday it's hard not to reminisce about years prior. Looking back, I'm proud of all I've accomplished and grateful for the lessons I've learned. Here's me, spilling my own guts in hopes that Jason won’t have to tonight.

If you haven't already guessed, this blog will not be about acting related material. I hope to strike a cord on a more personal level to uplift, inspire and reassure individuals that they are not alone. Each of us are on our own journey and our lives do not consist of just one topic. We are each a mod-podge project made up of different materials. We are complex creatures to say the least.

The past three years have been full of difficult life lessons for me. Transitioning into adulthood, I realized the true meaning of hard work. I worked harder than I ever have and pushed myself further than I ever thought I was capable of. I filled up every moment of my time to remain as busy as possible so I didn't have to face certain obstacles. At times, I took so much for granted. I wished I had a more glamorous life. You know, the stuff you see on Instagram that's obviously NOT REAL! Deep down that's not me at all.

Often times, I wanted to give up my dreams. I felt burnt out and told myself I wasn't good enough. I was my own worst bully.

On the outside looking in, you wouldn't think twice. Most of us are skilled in masking what we're going through. Over the years, I've particularly gotten good at it. Generally people don't see that side of me. Being vulnerable and embracing our imperfections is what makes us human and throughout the next chapter of my life that's exactly what intend to do and you should too.

Friendship

Throughout the past couple of years, I felt undeserving of friendship and blamed myself for things I knew deep down couldn't be true. I felt more alone than I ever have in my life and carried the burden of blame. I was heart broken and felt that I deserved to have no friends.

I know this is not true. I have life long friends that have stuck by my side and supported me through thick and thin. Although they don't live close by, I know they'll always be there for me. For that, I am so grateful. I had to accept that the people who truly care will remain constant in my life. Friendship works both ways, there is always give and take. Even still, I had to remind myself that I am a good person and a great friend. Nobody is perfect and I remain confident in my heart that I tried my very best.

I have a hard time with this topic specifically because I had a friend who was very dear to me pass away of cancer. Towards the end, we struggled to get along and ended up disliking each other for unimportant reasons. That is something which will sit with me for the rest of my life. You truly never know how long someone is going to be around. So enjoy every minute they're here with you.

I am a true believer of what is meant to be will be. If you're struggling with an existing or past relationship with a friend you are not alone. We are each on our own path and growing pains are a part of the process. People change and grow apart and that's okay.

Manifestation & Celebration

Typically, Friday the 13th is known to most individuals as an unlucky day. Like most superstitions, the stigma around this particular day has evolved over time across many cultures. The origin of Friday the 13th is undetermined but is supposedly derived from Norse Mythology as well as The Bible.

Before Patriarchal times, Friday the 13th was considered the day of the Moon Goddess. It was a day dedicated to worship the Devine Feminine Energy that lives in all of us and to honor the cycles of creation, death and rebirth. Today is considered a very powerful day to manifest, honor creativity, celebrate beauty as well as wisdom and nourishment of the soul.

With that said, take time today to rededicate and cleanse your space, Imagine good things happening to you and pay it forward without expecting anything in return.

Let's flip the script and make Friday the 13th a day of positivity, celebration and rebirth.

Happy Friday the 13th!
